About Us

Performance Purist is a dynamic training facility in the heart of Riverclub which caters for fitness seekers of all ages and abilities.

Our coaches are experienced in creating a well-balanced exercise schedule for a wide range of individuals. We can accommodate anyone from the average joe aiming to improve their fitness on a basic functional level to elite athletes with a goal of enhancing their performance in almost any sport.

We also offer specialised lifting classes, specifically for powerlifting and weightlifting, where we train a wide range of athletes: from first timers on the bar to award winning athletes competing on an international level.

The coaches at Performance Purist also have a special interest in martial arts and are able to pair the perfect strength and conditioning program with your technical training routine.


Our gym offers group classes, as well as individual programming through personal training sessions, allowing you to work towards reaching your unique fitness goals in the format that is best suited to your needs.

Meet the coaches

Joshua Capazorio

Joshua Capazorio is co-founder and head coach at Performance Purist. At 28 years old, Josh has 10 years of coaching experience and multiple qualifications, some of which include: ETA, GFM, SFG1, SFG2, Meta Coaching 1 and 2, ASA Level 1.

Darryn Anthony

Darryn is a decorated SA weightlifter with a wealth of international level experience spanning close on 2 decades. The holder of many National records, SA titles, African and Commonwealth Champion and most notably an Olympian, Darryn has no shortage of knowledge when it comes to Performance excellence.

Ilona Wilson

After 15 years in the corporate industry, Ilona decided to make a change in careers and switched over to Personal Fitness Training, completing her Exercise Science and Personal Training qualification with The Institute of Fitness Professionals, she also successfully completed her Kettlebell Ballistics Instructors Course as well as her Sports Massage Therapy Course.

Semi private and private training is done throughout the day at times best suited to you and the coach
